Barn Owl Cabins — Warm, Woodland Cabins by the West Highland Way

Welcome to Barn Owl Cabins, two thoughtfully designed cabins set in a tranquil countryside and woodland setting just outside Drymen, and only a short stroll from the West Highland Way. Opened in 2026, the cabins combine the charm of a traditional Scottish shepherd’s hut with the comfort and warmth walkers and cyclists genuinely need after a long day on the trail.

This is a peaceful place. Deer are often seen roaming nearby, pine martins pass quietly through the trees, and barn owls and tawny owls hunt across the fields at dusk. As evening settles, the noise of the day fades away, and the cabins become exactly what they’re meant to be: calm, cosy and quietly memorable.

Cozy upstairs bedroom with yellow wooden walls, a white bunk bed, checkered bedding, a circular window, and autumn-themed decorations.

Everything you need for a restful overnight stopover in Drymen

Inside, everything has been carefully designed. Comfortable bunk beds with deep feather duvets, thick insulation, electric-stove heating, a modern private bathroom, and practical touches like a drying pulley for wet clothes, boot trays and hanging space. There’s even a snug “toastie bed” for dogs, because many West Highland Way walkers travel with four-legged companions.

Whether you’re walking the full 96 miles of the West Highland Way, cycling NCN7 or the John Muir Way, or simply looking for a peaceful base to explore Loch Lomond and the surrounding countryside, Barn Owl Cabins offers a warm welcome and a genuinely restful night’s stay.
